Weekly Update


What's been going on?

Spanish
On Friday our class got a new Spanish teacher, Ms. Kilburn. She will be the student’s Spanish teacher for the next 6 weeks. The children will now go to Spanish every day.

Reading:
-organization and basic features of print: follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page; one-to-one correspondence (pointing to each word as you read)
-reading different types of texts (poems, storybooks)
-making connections between text and illustrations

Word Work:
-recognizing and producing rhyming word review, identifying beginning sounds in words for each consonant, segmenting sounds, introducing syllables

Sight Words (Target Words): I, see, like, my

Color Words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple

Writer’s Workshop: Identifying the tools we use during Writer’s Workshop, choosing topics, using drawings to convey our stories, telling about our stories in the order in which they occurred

Math: counting to 100 by 1’s and 10’s, using one-to-one correspondence when counting objects, answering “how many” questions when counting and solving word problems, writing numbers 1-20, sorting and comparing numbers using graphs
